Members of the Nigerian Union of Allied Healthcare Professionals have suspended their three-week-old strike. The decision to suspend the strike was announced at a press conference held in Ibadan.
According to the president of the union, Dr. Obinna Ogbonna, the union is giving the Nigerian government till July 31 to resolve all their outstanding grievances.
It would be recalled that the strike action commenced on 18 May and affected medical facilities across the government. The union’s president urged members to commence work today (Wednesday).
The striking health workers comprise pharmacists, physiotherapists, medical laboratory scientists, radiographers, dieticians, dental technologists, optometrists, clinical psychologists and medical social workers.
